he Faculty of Basic Sciences - Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry was established in February 1970 with the name Faculty of General Subjects (also known as the Faculty of Basic Subjects - Foreign Languages) and then it was named Faculty of Cultivation- In-service Training (1984-1989). From 1996 to 2006, the faculty was under General University and the colleges of Thai Nguyen University.

Faculty of Basic Sciences was re-established in 2006, according to Decision No. 83/QD-TCCB of Thai Nguyen University. In the past 15 years, the Faculty of Basic Sciences has made significant contributions to improve human resources for training, scientific research and technology transfer with the development of the University. Currently, the organizational structure of the faculty includes 02 divisions and 07 specialized groups, 46 staff (including 05 part-time lectures, 01 visiting lecturer, 36 full-time lecturers, 04 contract lecturers). The faculty includes 01 Associate Professor, 14 PhDs, 15 PhD candidates and16 Masters.
